Access to software
Adobe
Students will need to create an account with Adobe (unless you already have one) in order to access the Adobe suite at the college – instructions are included below. They will need to use a personal email address to create this.
Please note:
- Creating an Adobe account is free.
- The software will only be accessible when logged into a UAL networked computer
- The same account can be used outside of the University, but software will only be accessible through a personal paid subscription that students will need to set up independently
- Students can still create an account on the day but doing this beforehand will save time and avoid delays to the start of the class.
- If students already have an Adobe ID/ subscription they can use this on your short course rather than setting up a new account.
- We have recent become aware of some issues using Adobe stock images please refer to this document to resolve this.
To create an account students will need to go to the Adobe site
Microsoft Office
Using Microsoft Office as a Short Courses Tutor
It is recommended that you use MS 365 Online rather than MS Office Desktop Apps. To do this:
1) Open Canvas 2) Login with your UAL credentials 3) Go to Apps and Tools -> Office 365 Apps -> select relevant Programme (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc)

4) Either you can create documents there, or upload any documents you need to (e.g., from a UBS stick or from emails) and work on them from there.
Microsoft Office for Short Courses Students
Microsoft Office Applications (word, excel, PowerPoint etc.) are no longer available to Short Course students and can only be accessed by individuals with a UAL email account. If your students need to use Microsoft Office applications, they will need to create a free account with Microsoft, where they will be able to use web-based versions of the applications. Please access through the Free Office Online for the Web site.
Padlet
You may wish to reduce print outs and share documents with students by using Padlet. You can also use Padlet to communicate with learner if you would rather not use your UAL email address
You can add any documents or information you want to a Padlet page and anyone with the link or QR code can access it and view them.
Please note that Onsite Courses are not provided with a Padlet page by the Short Courses Team. However, if you wish to set one up it will take a matter of minutes. See the UAL Quick Start Guide to Creating your own Padlet Page or this UALSC quick guide
Padlet itself also has this excellent top tips page

Induction
You can use these induction slides at the beginning of your course, if you do not have access to a projector, please use the slides as a prompt to your verbal induction, and / or add the presentation to your padlet.
The tutor hub sides can be used by tutors as part of their course induction ,either in full or as individual slides. Its is suggested that they are used a prompts for a discussion which also includes course specific information. Please make sure to also include site specific information, which can be located on the site specific pages at the bottom of the Onsite Support page
